All in one boat

by Independant Daily

All these writings about scandals makes think of one thing. It is, i think, by now quite obvious that the PM does not have much power to stop these corruption practises. Mahathir has already acknowledge that he is grabbing his own balls now for chosing an incompetent person to continue his legacy.

Its like my work now. My company's top guy left. The Board of Directors have yet to bring in another person to replace him. I thought... hmmm.. maybe i could have a chance here. Maybe. But even if i get the chance now i may have to think otherwise because i might end up like the PM himself.

I suppose its not his fault that he is incompetent. I mean, admit it, if you were given a job to lead a multi-national company, you'd jump at it at first chance. Getting it done right or not is a different question cause you'd have nothing to lose.

So, as the opportunity came from a local school graduate with no economics educational background it is no surprise that he has absolutely no idea on what the budget is all about. What is surprising though, having nothing but a Islamic studies degree, he is still clinging on to the Finance Minister position.

So, he took to his arms and promised the country what they wanted to hear, to eradicate corruption, to empower the anti-corruption agencies and making it easier for the public to reveal corrupt practices to the authorities.

It was exactly what the people need to hear. Finally, a 'clean' PM to lead a 'clean' government to achieve the Vision 2020. The arrest of several public figures including the likes of Eric Chia and Isa Abdul Samad further boost his popularity and in the 2004 election, he delivered a stunning victory winning 198 out of 220 parlimentary seats and claiming back Terengganu from PAS.

There was light at the end of the tunnel.

However, things have taken a turn in recent months if not years. Racial harmony is at an all time low. More and more scandals have emerged costing the government billions of ringgit. Imagine what we could have achieve if these monies were directed to the public for funding of innovations and aspriring entrepeneurs. But alas, it isn't to be.

As the government continue to squandrel away billions of ringgit and our most valuable Oil depleting quick, we need to ensure that something is to be done. Malaysia Today is preparing a petition to the agong here and i have signed.

What you, as the Citizen of the country can also do is to Vote for what you think is the best for the country. Is this what's best for the country?
